extremely critical vulnerability disclosed in Adobe Acrobat
A critical vulnerability, which is being actively exploited, has been discovered in Adobe's Acrobat products. Adobe Acrobat 7 Professional, Adobe Acrobat 7.x, Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional, Adobe Acrobat 8.x, Adobe Acrobat 9.x, Adobe Reader 7.x, Adobe Reader 8.x and Adobe Reader 9.x are all affected by a vulnerability that can be exploited to infect affected systems with malicious software. All platforms running the aforementioned Adobe products are affected by this vulnerability: Mac OS X, Windows and Linux. From the Adobe advisory: "A critical vulnerability has been identified in Adobe Reader 9 and Acrobat 9 and earlier versions. This vulnerability would cause the application to crash and could potentially allow an attacker to take control of the affected system. There are reports that this issue is being exploited."
Take special precautions opening PDF documents with these Adobe products until an update is issued by Adobe, currently scheduled for mid-March.
