It costs less to run your business on Macs

According to an article from CIO, a survey released yesterday by the Enterprise Desktop Alliance has found that Macs in the workplace can reduce IT-related support costs:

iPhone OS 3.1.3 released

Apple today released iPhone OS 3.1.3, an update that contains a number of security fixes for the mobile OS. The update can be downloaded and installed using iTunes for Mac OS X or Windows.

Security Update 2010-001 released for Mac OS X 10.5; 10.6

Apple today released Security Update 2010-001 addressing security concerns in CoreAudio, CUPS, Flash Player plug-in, ImageIO, Image RAW and OpenSSL. The update is available for versions of Mac OS X 10.5.8 and Mac OS X 10.6.2.

Mac OS X 10.6.2 & Security Update 2009-006 released

Apple has released Mac OS X 10.6.2 & Security Update 2009-006 (for Mac OS X 10.5.8), updating components of Mac OS X and Mac OS X Server to address functionality and security concerns.

Apple announces new iMacs, MacBook & Mac mini

Apple today announced refreshes to the iMac, MacBook and Mac mini models, as well as the Magic Mouse, a touch-sensitive mouse that allows for the gestures iPhone and Mac trackpad users have become used to using.

The new iMac systems now come in 21.5-inch and 27-inch sizes, and utilize the 16:9 widescreen aspect ration LED-backlit displays, as well as 3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processors. The 27-inch iMac has an optional model equipped with a Quad-Core 2.66 GHz Intel Core i5 processor and a dedicated ATI Radeon HD 4850 graphics processor with 512MB onboard memory.

Security Update 2009-005 released for 10.4.11 & 10.5.8

Apple has released Security Update 2009-005 addressing numerous highly critical vulnerabilities in Mac OS X 10.4.11 and Mac OS X 10.5.8. Components updated include Alias Manager, CarbonCore, ClamAV, ColorSync, CoreGraphics, CUPS, Flash Player plug-in, ImageIO, Launch Services, MySQL, PHP, SMB and the Wiki Server.

Apple releases Mac OS X 10.6.1

Apple today released Mac OS X 10.6.1, addressing a highly critical vulnerability in the Flash Player plug-in. In addition to the security content, the update "[i]mproves compatibility with some Sierra Wireless 3G modems. Addresses an issue in which some printer compatibility drivers might not appear properly in the Add Printer browser. Addresses an issue that might cause DVD playback to stop unexpectedly. Addresses an issue that might make it difficult to remove an item from the Dock.
